DA Fani Willis In Hot Water, Loses Legal Case Related To Trump Prosecution

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis finds herself embroiled in a growing legal dispute after a Georgia judge ruled in favor of Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, in a lawsuit seeking access to her office’s communications. The lawsuit focuses on her interactions with Special Counsel Jack Smith and the House January 6 Committee.

Judge Robert McBurney of the Fulton County Superior Court issued the ruling after Willis’s office failed to respond in time to an open records request from Judicial Watch. As a result, the court entered a default judgment against Willis, requiring her to comply with Georgia’s open records laws.

The judgment mandates that Willis’s office provide the requested documents within five business days, marking a significant development in the case and intensifying scrutiny on her office’s handling of public records.
