How to check if you’ve lost this tendon on your arm to evolution

Our bodies are truly remarkable, yet we seldom pause to appreciate the marvel of evolution they represent. While humans have evolved from primates into complex, society-building beings, our biology remains nearly identical to that of our ancestors from 20,000 years ago. Evolution is ongoing, but it occurs so gradually that we hardly notice the changes.
A great example of this slow process is the palmaris longus tendon in your wrist. This tendon, which was once vital for tree-dwelling primates, is gradually disappearing from the human body—about 10-15% of people no longer have it.
Want to check if you have it? Simply rest your forearm palm-up, touch your pinky to your thumb, and lift your hand slightly. If a tendon appears in the middle of your wrist, you have it; if not, you’re among those evolving away from it.
